Our Journey in Creating SOURCE

Our Journey in Creating SOURCE

Our quest was to be an easy one at first.

We wanted to create a lifestyle brand that offers lasting styles that never goes out of trend. Premium quality essentials that doesn’t come with a premium price.

We started off by asking ourselves, what do we most often wear? And chances are, it’s that plain simple tee in our wardrobe. Basic tees are our wardrobe heroes; the pieces we always fall back on.

We’ve learned that there are two main things when it comes to creating premium basics. Having the right manufacturing partner and choosing the right material.

Having been in the manufacturing sector for more than a decade, we knew to find responsible manufacturing partner with better practices, and one that has long-standing histories of working with global renowned brands was no easy task. These companies rarely attend trade events nor does any form of marketing.

We started by calling our friends for referrals, scoured through online databases when we finally came up with a list of potential partners. We started calling and emailing them, one by one. Most of them declined to start with us knowing we are a start-up, but there were a good few who were interested to find out more about us.

We knew it was important to visit these factories, to see it for ourselves- if the condition of the factory was good, if the workers are happy and enthusiastic about their work and to meet the owner of the factory. We packed our bags and left for more than a month visiting 12 different cities. Much as we had expected, some of these factories weren't in the right condition while some definitely left us in awe.

Next was to choose the right material.

The fabric has to be soft, comfortable, and able to retain its quality after frequent wear and multiple washes. While researching, we found out that fashion industry is the third largest polluter of the environment. We hope to do our part and minimize the impact our garments have on the environment- which leads us to the commitment to using only natural or eco-friendly materials.

After more than a year’s work– SOURCE finally launched in September 2017 starting with premium basic tees. But our work here is not done. We will continue to build our collection to include other essential pieces and incrementally improve our quality and design of each style base on experience and customers' comments.

We hope you will join us in our journey, as we continue to bring you wardrobe essentials free of compromises, but full of love.
