How To Remove Ballpoint Pen Ink Stains From Your Clothing

Pencil, Ballpoint, Felt Pen & Permanent Marker Ink Stains

Perhaps you were scribbling a bit too enthusiastically at the weekly work meeting and now you have a conspicuous ink or colour stain on your shirt.

Step 1
When dealing with an ink or color stain, exercise caution to avoid spreading the stain by rubbing it. Instead, opt for blotting the stain gently. If the stain doesn't seem to spread, you can start rubbing it away or even try using either lemon juice or nail polish remover. However, it is important to test on an inconspicuous part of the garment beforehand to ensure the color doesn't fade or change.

Step 2
For felt pen stains, lemon juice is the ideal choice, while ink and permanent markers may require the use of nail polish remover. Apply a small amount lemon juice on the stain and let it dry.

Step 3
Next, scrub the stain using a soft toothbrush or simply with your fingers, with cold water. Put an appropriate amount of dishwashing liquid on the stain and continue rubbing it until it's gone.

Step 4
If the stain persists, use nail polish remover on a cotton pad or ball and carefully blot away the stain until it vanishes completely. If the garment is washable, rinse off any residual alcohol, if not, use a damp cloth to remove the alcohol from the garment.
